The Merchant's House Marlborough

Second Floor Bed Chamber

THE SECOND FLOOR BEDCHAMBER

The fireplace surround was decorated in about 1656 with painted trailing foliage in green and black on a white ground.  To the right is an overlaying scheme of stripes similar to that in the dining room and dating from c 1670.  The whole room has decorated wall finishes which are gradually being revealed by the Trust's paint conservator.  The oak floorboards are mostly original and have undergone careful repair and conservation.
