The Merchant's House Marlborough

Friends of the Merchant's House

Why the Friends are important to the Trust

A large and committed body of supporters demonstrates the validity of the work of the Merchant’s House locally and nationally, particularly to grant-giving bodies.  It also gives encouragement to our many volunteers who give of their time and energy to the work of the Trust. Furthermore, the subscriptions Friends pay and the support they give to events held in connection with the Trust are a valuable source of financial help.

The Benefits of being a Friend

Occasional coffee mornings and light lunches are held in the Panelled Room of the House and lectures and musical events are arranged both in the House and in larger local venues.  In addition, as a member of the Friends you will be entitled to:

  • free admission to the House and Garden at any time they are open to the public
  • discounted admission for relatives and friends (provided they are accompanied by the member)
  • a free copy of the Journal (published thrice yearly)
  • a free copy of the quarterly Newsletter
  • access to the Trust’s library and archive (by arrangement with the Trust Manager)
  • attendance on visits and at lectures arranged exclusively for Friends
  • a discount on tickets for events organised by the Trust.
